Catherine Berresheim earned her MFA in creative nonfiction from Spalding University’s Naslund-Mann Graduate School of Writing. She is now a tenured full-time associate professor for a local community college.
Ms. Berresheim began her professional writing career in 2009 working as a reporter for a community paper, The News Herald. From there, she moved onto local magazines, like the East Nashvillian (2012-2014), and Nashville Arts Magazine (2014-2019) writing monthly features. Much of her early work was published under the married surname of Randall. Examples of her essay work have appeared in the Nashville Scene under her pseudonym, Cate Berr. Current publications include Witches Mag, Untamed Voices, Off Center, Medium/Landslide Lit(erary), The Autoethnographer: A Literary & Arts Magazine, and SHIFT. Her essay “Catlike” is featured in Chicken Soup for the Soul: Lessons I Learned from My Cat (2023). Due out in 2025 is the essay “Cancer: The Great Motivator,” which will be featured in the Middle Tennessee State University anthology project There Are Writing Emergencies: Composing Ourselves in Times of Crisis.
