Dora Hu is a student writer interested in geography, memory, and the strange ways people try to organize the world around them. She spends an unreasonable amount of time looking at maps, identifying places from road markings and infrastructure, and reading about isolated islands in the Pacific. Her writing often explores distance, uncertainty, and the quieter moments of growing up. Outside of writing, she is interested in environmental science and biology. “Paper Oceans” was inspired partly by the map that hung on her bedroom wall for most of her childhood.
